"My wife fell off a horse. Kmart won't let us back on the property" - my husband
Yes, I told him he can say that. For some reason, that sounds way better then the truth that it was a REAL horse.
I'm recovering slowly. Thankfully xrays didn't show any cracks or fractures, just contusions on the ribs and lung. Doc agreed to another week off work (this week) but won't sign for the short term disability, and I don't have the vacation time left to take another week off work, so I'm back at work.
It's been a very long day.
A very long painful, moving slow day.
Oh well. Suck it up, live with the pain and move on. I'm working on it.
I will be back to my horseback riding lessons (moving to a different Kmart! Ha!) in a few weeks.
I was hoping to go back this coming weekend, but I can tell you today that is not going to happen.
It amazes me how many people are surprised that I actually ride horses (at my age no less!) AND that I will be going back. But hey, when you fall off, you gotta get back on right?
Besides, I do love it, and already miss it. It wasn't the horse's fault, it was mine. He was doing everything so well, and I f'd up my 'directions' and he went right and I went left.
I am so very behind on blogs (over 500 not read) and I do promise to get caught up as soon as I can. But forgive me if my comments aren't as many.
No, I will not hit "mark all as read" because they are not read! And I will read.
Other then that I really have nothing much to blog about because I haven't done jack in the past week.
I did just get notified of this Gross Alert. That is why I don't go to places like that!

6 gimme your words here:
Hope you're feeling much better soon. What do you mean - at your age? You're just a young pup. :)
You gotta get back on. After your recovery. I love horses, too. And your husband is a hoot;)
Seconding both Hilary's and MPM's comments .. and adding I didnt need an alert to tell me people pee in the pool... its one of the reasons I dont do more than sit in the sun and read at a pool ...
So glad you are well enough to post .. I miss you and hope you is better SOON!
Pee is sterile. Gross, but totally true. What's more disgusting are doorknobs and lots of other publicly touched things! Ick.
Was your saddle loose?! Was the horse doing a canter? I am trying to figure out how you fell off, exactly. I've just never done it. Curious. :)
Hope you're feeling better soon!
Just feel better, friend!
Aloha
My kids are doing horse camp again this summer, and they want to continue with lessons in the fall. Maybe I should see about getting in on that -- I'm sure I could use some lessons to improve my riding, and I'd love the regularly scheduled opportunity to ride. Now that I think about it, it's been years since I last went horseback riding. So sad.
Glad you're (mostly) okay and will be getting back on the horse soon!
