Not Skywatch Friday

I'm going to skip Skywatch Friday today to actually write a post.

Where have I been? What's been going on?

Well, I'll tell ya.

Y'all know I fell off a horse. Recovery has been sorta slow. The ankle, back, neck have all seemed to have healed with no issues. But the freakin ribs! OMG! I have contusions on the ribs and my lung. And they hurt like a bitch - still. Right now. And no, I don't have pain killers. I would love some if you care to share, send em my way.

I have every plan to get back on and keep riding. I think I will wait til after I get back from my mini-vacation to ConFab! By then I should be really healed. Was hoping to go back to lessons this weekend, but when I didn't sleep all last night from the pain, decided that was not a good idea. Still have a hard time bending over and carrying things, and sitting for long periods, but hey, every day gets better.

Yes I am going to Kentucky for ConFab!! And I can't wait. 767 miles from here to there with a few stops on the way... heh.. heh.. more details on that road trip when it gets closer.

Things on the health front have been going ok. After the last meeting I felt better about what I was doing and have been doing very well at the whole thing! My sugars are down from where they were, not where they need to be, but I also learned they will be higher because of the pain I'm in and that's ok. Still having 'issues' with what I eat, not as much, but hey, a girls' GOTTA have her Chinese every so often! Even if it is bad for me!

There is a bunch of crazy shit going on that I can't talk about here, but trust me when I say the words "King Supreme JackAss of the Universe" apply. And that's being nice.

It took me a little over a week, but I also caught up with my Google reader. Forgive me if I haven't been commenting as much lately, been trying to read. I seem to be back on track now, barring any more dark clouds that dare float overhead!

I've become addicted to the Twitter. Yes. I have. I didn't think it could happen to me, but hey, baaa baaaa baaaa baaaa baaaa... and away I go. I seem to be on that quite a bit more since I found Tweetdeck. Oh well, it's entertainment and I've 'met' a few really cool people.

Last weekend we took Chrissy out for her birthday dinner, to The Pope Room. It was a total blast and we all ate too much as always.

That is probably the most exciting thing I've done in a few weeks. I really haven't been doing too much because of the 'healing', and well, cause I normally don't do a whole lot anyway. But that's me.

We did have friends over for burgers & dogs & Wii on Memorial Day, but that was really low key and just our 'normal' fun. I did get a great video of them playing Rayman RR TV Party. Haven't gotten it loaded up yet, but will soon, and you will have to see it! It's freakin hysterical. We love those Rayman games.

Oh, get this one.. Wednesday morning, I was driving to work at my normal 5:30isham gettin on the highway, heard this loud POP and my entire rear windshield shattered. I mean a zillion pieces. I almost shit myself. Seriously. I was FREAKIN. What do I do? What did I do? I drove to work. Hey! I can't afford any more days off! I got vacation coming up!

There were no cars around me in any direction when it happened, no one can figure out WHY this happened at all. Of course it all stayed in one piece until I closed the car door when I parked at work. Thankfully I parked underneath so I was safe from the rain. The window people were going to come out between 8 and 5.

I got a call about 12:30 from the tech telling me that it was going to be 3 to 5 days before I could get the new rear windshield because (of course) my car has some special seal that they need to order from the dealer.

All I could do was laugh. What else could I do? Anyway, I drove home with the half smashed out windshield, and that was insane! When Scott got home, he pulled out the shop vac and totally broke out the rest and cleaned up my car, and I mean hey - he vacuumed everything! Then put a big black garbage bag over the window, cause of course it's going to rain.

I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home for a few days til I get it fixed. My boss rocks.

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging much but I've been stumped. How it seems to have been working for me is that I will lay in bed at night, come up with 2 or 3 great post ideas and totally too tired to get out of bed to write them down, and forget in the morning what they were. I think we all do that though.

Also, the biggest reason behind it, besides the very well know fact that well, I'm not all that exciting. (If you made it this far - point made.) is that I have felt very 'gagged' here. There are alot of things I really want to 'talk' about but the fear of anyone getting offended or hurt is overwhelming my desire to write. I've been hoping that will kind of go away over time, but it hasn't been letting up. I am working on how to personally deal with it. Not figuring it out as quickly as I like.

Today also marks the one year anniversary of Mike's Kidney! He has done extremely well with it and we are all happy about that. Cause we love Mike. And his kidney. I will tell you a funny story he shared. The kidney came from a guy who died in a motorcycle accident (no helmet). Mike said that when he first got the kidney, he kept having dreams about riding a motorcycle. Mike hasn't ridden one in years and isn't a biker. So we all thought that was kind of odd.

And I'm done. Can't think of anything else for now.

So until next time.. Happy Friday!

The Pope Room at Bucca di Pepo? I love that place. I gotta bring my mother-in-law there some day. And find 10 more people to come with us. Do they still have Pope John Paul II enshrined or have they switched to Benedict yet?

Um, pain relievers? You don't have any? Seriously? 'Cause they dose that stuff out to me whenever I ask like they're Pez. I'd send it along, but I'm sure it would impede my ability to procure such good stuff in the future.

This was great to read. I love the way you look at life. I am not bored by what you call your bored life. Because hey, have you seen mine lately? Um, yeah.

First time commenter here.

Happy Friday and sorry to hear about the slow recovery. I had a friend that spent many months recovering from a fall (top of the house while fixing swamp cooler) and he's almost there, but still has those creaks and pains every once in a while.

Hope your trip to ConFab is fun. I won't be going, but I look forward to everyone's photos and stories.

Happy Friday!
ConFab goodness coming up!
I think you should write a letter to your boss, thanking him/ her for being so understanding and willing to work with you. Seriously - a lot of bosses wouldn't do that! Or maybe just some flowers or something small.
I cannot BELIEVE you didn't get any pain pills! I was so hoping you'd have some for ConFab! I am only half joking! Ha! :P

You need to write what you fear will offend - even if you don't share it you will lear something.

Hi Shannon, Thanks for your note. I don't know what's up with not being able to comment. If you feel like it, could you try to comment on one of my other blogs? I wonder if it's the account, or just that blog or a temporary glitch in the system. I appreciate your visits!

P.S. I'm finding that half the time I have to re-enter the code and click again to get my comments to post on most of the blogs! I have no idea why. It might be Internet Explorer. Anyway, bummer.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm a total Twitter addict, too. :)

Yes, the Tweetdeck, it is a Twitter problem. I like Twitter so much more now that I'm using it.

I hope by now you are healed and feeling good.

I've been trying to follow the links to ConFab, but I don't see information about what it is . . . I'm in the dark. What is it?
